Lady Gaga and Björk Walked So Doja Cat Could Run | Teen Vogue
On the first day of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, my true love gave to me… a head-to-toe Swarovski crystal-ed Doja Cat?! It might seem unbelievable, but it’s true.
In Paris’s early morning, those who eat and breathe fashion made their way to the first show of the day, Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2023. Just as they arrived for what they assumed to be the main event, Doja Cat emerged from the crowd, painted in red from her eyelids to her toenails, and embellished in 30,000 Swarovski crystals, complete with a beaded Schiaparelli skirt for insane texture play.
Shortly after shutting down the French capital and just about the entire internet with the whimsical look, makeup mogul Pat McGrath, who was behind the bedazzled fantasia, took to Instagram to explain her creative process. “Such a pleasure working with the gorgeous Doja Cat and the amazing Daniel Roseberry on ‘Doja’s Inferno’ look. The final product was a magical, mesmerizing masterpiece of sparkling brilliance.” According to McGrath, Doja was very patient during the almost five hours of crystal application.
While we all appreciate a classic, chic ensemble, nothing compares to a thought-provoking, truly domineering look to shake up the red carpet. There is a detailed history of kitschy fashion moments, including Björk and Lady Gaga, both famous for arriving on any given carpet or stage as walking pieces of art. Did they walk so Doja could run?! Here, we take a look at the Holy Trinity’s most remarkable looks over the years.
